Bug ? SGP621 - Voicemail Notification always shown for data only SIM

I have a data only SIM in my tablet (no calling capabilities) only Data and SMS. Yet my tablet always shows the voicemail notification at the top. I can force stop it but it comes back everytime I restart the device. 

Since this is a data only SIM I obviously have no actual voicemail and cant call voicemail to clear this. At this point its more of a nuisance. I believe this issue may exist in multiple Xperia devices not just the Z3TC.

I am running a T-Mobile USA SIM (post paid). I don't think this bug was present in the initial release software. I believe this appeared after the Lollipop upgrade. If i put a SIM that is provisioned for calling I can check my voicemails and the notification will clear so the issue only happens with the data only SIM.

Quite frankly I don't know how to approach them about this since the line doesn't support voice to begin with. It would be interesting to know if other users with the 621 have the same issue with other carriers.

OK. So I've pretty much exhausted all I can do on the carrier side of things. They have confirmed there is nothing on my account that would cause voicemails to be sent to this line. 

I even went as far as to change the phone number tied to the tablet line.

Interestingly, If i put the same data SIM in my Z5P the voicemail notification shows up there as well but of course it can't be cleared.

I recommend that you contact your operator again regarding this and have them check this further. This is a network notification coming from the operator.

Checking other forums i found more reports of this with T-Mobile. The general suggestion seems to be to call your number from another phone, leave a voicemail and then call up voicemail, listen to and delete that message but i suspect this will not work with your SIM-card as it's data only.

Ok. So to confirm my initial statement that I *think* this was a bug introduced in Lolipop. I downgraded both my Z3TC and Z3 to the release 4.4.4. Using the exact same data only SIM I do not encounter the voicemail notification issue. The behavior is the same on both devices. So, on 5.0+ the notification is always there and on 4.4.4 it was not. 

Let me know if you would like me to share any logs. It would be nice if this could be fixed as its a bit of a nuisance.

I will try to find if there's any change between these versions that could explain it. A log might be helpful as well. I believe you know how to take a log as you sent me one before but please let me know if you need the instructions.

But to me, the cause of this still sounds network related. The phone/tablet displays this icon when the network signals that there's a new voicemail and it doesn't happen with your other SIM card. I don't get the icon when i test with a data only SIM here either.

If you google for T-mobile and stuck voicemail notification you will also find that this is not specific for Xperia products or later versions of Android.

Perhaps you can ask your operator to reset your account?

I actually had T-Mobile do something similar on my account after I had started this thread. I actually went as far as to have them re-provision and change the mobile number tied to my account.

Ordinarily, I would agree that this was network related but given the difference between 4.4 and 5.0 I'm not so sure.
