[BUG]Battery wont charge while having notifications

Good morning

I have a weird problem that I think no one has reported yet. It happened two or three times now and I didn't know why but after leaving my phone charging at night, when in the morning I picked it up I only had 1% battery left. The phone simply kept discharging during the night although plugged in and on the screen showing as being charging.

After a lot of thinking and luck, I am now able to replicate the problem but I have no idea of how to solve this.

It's quite simple, if there are any unread notifications (e-mail, sms, missed calls, etc) on the notifications bar, the phone will simply not charge even if it shows you that it is and will keep discharging.

My testing procedure was as follows:

With a remaining charge of 16%, I plugged the charger on the wall socket and immediately on the phone. The orange charging led turns on (I did not have unread notifications at this time) and after a couple of minutes I had a current battery charge of 27%. All good and normal.

From another phone, I've sent a test e-mail to the Xperia's P Gmail and the orange charging led turned off like it should, and in his place the blinking green one from notifications turned on.

I've waited a couple of minutes and when I checked the battery again to confirm my theory, I had already lost 1%, going from 27% to 26% clearly showing that the phone was discharging (although the screen icon was showing like it was charging up).

After confirming this, I've cleared up all notifications that were showing and the green blinking led went off giving place to the orange one once again, indicating that the phone was charging, except that it wasn't. It didn't resume charging even after wiping all notifications and I had to unplug it from the charger and plug it back in, for it to start charging once again.

I think this is a software related issue (possibly a kernel one?) but I do not have the knowledge to provide any sort of fix.

My only solution for the time being is to clear all notifications, set the phone to airplane mode and only afterwards plug in the charger to leave it charging properly, and making sure that it does not receive any sorts of notifications that might interrupt the charging process.

It would be nice if someone could also test this to check if it only happens with my device.

My phone is FULLY STOCK with the latest B.1.54 firmware and has been repaired/updated through SUS two times just to make sure all was done properly.

Please advise.

The thing is i have seen several issues but none like my own. ..

I wonder if the b.0.544 does the same. ..

I have tested now on both one of my colleagues Xperia P which have some app's installed and also on one completely stock Xperia P. And I haven't been able to replicate this problem. Both running on the latest software.

I therefore suggest that you try to run a software reinstall using SUS.

And if the problem still remains you should contact your local support team, to have the phone examined and fixed at an repair center.

This happens to me sometime. Donot worry as your battery is charging even if the %of battery remains constant. If u want to cheack then play some game without charging and then check ur battery % it will show you exact level..

my% level stuck sometime but battery is charging so donot worry just restart ur P

it was actually weirder than that guys... the phone was loosing battery % with the charger on!

for instance, if I pluged the phone at 40% at night, in the morning i would have 1% of battery... so, not only was the phone not showing the charge going up, it was actually showing it going down! lol

anyway, I think it has been solved and I the problem was I've flashed the generic world version instead of central europe one.

tks for the posts.

Ok, problem NOT SOLVED.

Today it happened again... like you can see, it actually started to charge for a bit and then stopped.

I assume once again it's something related with the notifications or notification LED.

Plugged the charger in at about 30% yesterday before going to bed, and after 6 hours:

After unplugging the charger;power OFF;power ON:

After connecting the charger again for a while:
