Brand new Sony Xperia T won't turn on

Hi all,

My brand new Sony Xperia T arrived today, and within 6 hours it has already stopped functioning! I left it in my pocket with a good 40-50% battery and an hour later I find it turned off and it will not turn back on again! The power button literally does nothing, I put it on charge just in case the battery ran out but it doesn't do anything. It was working perfectly then all of a sudden for seemingly no justifiable reason it's stopped working?!

Connect your phone to a wall charger > press and hold power & volume up for 5 seconds > let it charge for 1 or 2 hours > after 1-2 hours > try to turn it on

I tried but nothing has happened. No vibration when I did the power and volume key thing and still wouldn't turn on hours later
