After the software upgrade did you perform also a software repair with XC? Can you try 1st to connect and stream in safe mode?

To restart in safe mode, press the power button until the power off menu appear, long press the power off until a secondary menu appears asking to reboot in safe mode.

Hi @leeh42,

Welcome to the community.

Can you please try YoGem's suggestions, and if possible also try other bluetooth speakers and see if the same issue occurs on other devices?

right ive done what you have asked and gone into safe mode and ive finally sussed out what is causing the issue after 20 minutes of messing iwth the phone settings its the noise suppression option its fine when it not selected but the issue will be during a call via my head unit bluetooth the background noise will be very noisey so now i have a answer to my issue what happens now

many thanks

I am also having a problem with pairing my phone with my car system since I installed the latest Sony update. The media pairs OK but I cannot connect to the phone. I have tried all the suggestions above but still no joy. Sony suggested that the car system is the problem but as it was working perfectly before the update I feel it is the update that has caused the trouble. How do we persuade Sony to sort this out?

Since upgrading to marshallow 6.0.1 the phone will pair and connect to two Sony car radios. 'OK Google' works fine. But when it comes to making phone calls, the receiving person cannot hear me at all.
I have been emailing Sony support for weeks. Safe mode, system reset, system restore, blah blah blah. Going back and forth and they were unble to come up with an acceptable solution.
They said it wasn't a phone problem and that I should contact Sony electrinics and get an update for my car radios. What? One of them is less than two years old!!!
Sony's technicians are not what they used to be.
So I checked the settings in the phone. AND FOUND THE SOLUTION.
Go into call settings and turn off Microphone noise supression.
Sony's last reply: "We will escalate your query to the appropriate team. If it is a bug in the firmware this may be able to be resolved in a future update."

At the moment, when I'm driving, to make or take a call I have to pull over. There is just to much background noise to be heard.
This phone would be the worst I've had from Sony.
