Bluetooth looses connection with carkit constantly

Bought the Xperia SP a week ago to replace my Xperia P. I have been using the Xperia P with the carkit of my BMW 5-series (2012) without any problems.

Now with the SP (running on Android 4.1.2 and firmware 12.0.A.2.254) things are horrible!! I have paired (several times again) the phone with the carkit but it drops the bluetooth connection constantly each 10 or 15 seconds or so... completely useless! According to the carkit display (BMW's iDrive system) it looks like it has difficulties syncing with the phone.

Now ... Dear Sony Support... please get this straight and solved with the next update or patch or anything. Please do NOT start telling me about checking with the BMW dealer for an update from their part. The Xperia P worked perfectly and the Xperia SP needs to function in the same manner. It's the phone that changed things, not the car.

Feedback on this is not only appreciated but I really insist on reporting back on this with something telling me that Sony Support really cares... something obvious like: We have registered the concerns and have reported the issue directly to our research team together with Google developer team or whatever... a little bit like a support service is intented to do.

THANK YOU!

Thanks for your feedback Etienne but nevertheless it does not provide any added value to my problem as I already knew that people are using the Xperia SP in combination with other carkits without any problems. Also I see other people complaining about bluetooth connectivity problems with the Xperia SP in other circumstances and similar problems (similar to mine) are reported with the Xperia Z and ZL.

Point is: the new guy in play here is the Xperia SP (had no problems with the P in the past). So the fix should come from the new SP and not from the car.

Have you checked if your carkit Bluetooth supports the latest Bluetooth firmware the sp has? Bare in mind older phones do not have the latest firmware for Bluetooth.

Did you try to connect in another car with your Xperia SP ?

I have the same problem with my Xperia L (bought in august) in my Mercedes C class (2011).

Every 60 to 70 seconds it loses its connection. It reconnects and 60 seconds later the connection is gone again. And it keeps doing that. I am constantly distracted by the message "connecting to.....I never had any problems with my Nokia.....

I have the same problem with my SP and Mercedes E200 Bluetooth kit. My old HTC Sensation had no difficulty. This is definitely a Sony problem.

-BUMP-

I have the same issue with my BMW 116d (F20, 2012). While I'm on the phone, suddenly the BT connections drops and I look like talking to nobody...

This is not a BMW problem because I have paired other device and these work just fine.

Does it have something to do with STAMINA? Battery saving thingies?

Even with a SmartConnect profile enabling my BT when entering my car to pair doesn't help...

Sony, HELP! 🙂
