Bluetooth issues

I am trying to pair my phone to the car and everything is attempt to do it the screen to enter the code appears for a split second then disappears!! Any ideas??

Yes uliwooly I did... Had to get the SP to replace handset. Even their tech guys couldn't figure it out. Just having no luck!
