Bluetooth issue introduced by 4.0.2.A.0.42 unsolved by 4.0.2.A.0.62

(This bug has been reported by many users in a previous thread http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/149400#149400 but is still not solved by latest firmware release - some more bug details are provided)

Everything was fine with Android 2.3.3 (as in  3.0.1.A.0.145)

Bug appeared with the 2.3.4 release (4.0.2.A.0.42) and is not solved in latest firmware (4.0.2.A.0.62)

Description:

When the handset goes into its sleep mode, the bluetooth disconnects.

Pressing the central button makes the phone reconnect.

Xperia Arc is now totally UNUSABLE as a handsfree phone in a car environment

More details

The disconnection is in fact not at the bluetooth connection level. According to the car dashboard :

Bluetooth connection is OK

Battery level of the handset is correctly reported

But "No service" (=no mobile network available) is wrongly stated

Waking up the phone instantaneously updates the dashboard with the network reception level (which is good).

This disconnection is not systematic : the handset may enter sleep mode while the disconnection does not occur. After some minutes, it always occur.

Phone uses stock firmware without any tweaks of fancy apps which interfere with the system.

Thanks SE to acknowledge this regression which is EXTREMELY annoying.

Best regards

  3. Phone model: Xperia Pro
  4. Android version and build number: 2.3.4 / 4.0.2.A.0.69

  3. Phone model: Xperia Neo
  4. Android version and build number: 2.3.4, 4.0.2.A.0.62
  5. Short description of your problem: Toyota BT interface marks the connection as "Out of range" when the mobile is idle and its screen goes off. After pushing the home button, the connection is readily restablished and I can dial a number via the car interface. Lately a new malfunction has emerged: I have the mobile normally connected, I dial a number from the car's contacts list and once I got an answer, the audio is not anymore diverted to the car's audio system. The Neo displays the BT connection as active, but instead the audio is still on the phone. After I push the BT button on the phone's dial screen once to "really" disable the BT redirection, and a second time to restablish it, the audio is finally diverted to the car's loudspeakers.

I really don't understand how it's possible that after MONTHS we are still debating these issues.

4. Android Version & Build No.  2.3.4,  4.0.2A.0.62

5. Short Description Of problem/s.   Handset connects, allows incoming calls.  If phonebook allowd to connect to car or vise versa, then Bluetooth connection only lasts 15 seconds, then drops, then connects for 15 seconds and so forth.  It will do this all day long.  Also, the phonebook does not load into the car system, so cannot make out going calls without actually touching th handset?

So? We did it, and...? The sound of silence!

It's over with this piece of s*it, when I drive more than half of the times I can't either call or get the call diverted to the car kit. No support, no fix, and a constant danger while driving. Angry_Face

In a bad way I am freed. My Xperia ARC S fel in a swimming pool and is dead now.

At the repair shop they told me that most brands are still repairable from water damage except Sony.

It was an expensive mistake but look forward to having bleutooth again.

Goodby Sony.

Here is another example to add to the list:

1. Car model and year: Mercedes SLK 350, 2007

2. Model name of the bluetooth module/car kit: Mercedes B6 787 5868 07W10

3. Phone Model: Experia Arc S (LT 18i)

4. Android version and build number: 2.3.4, 4.0.2.A.0.62

5. Short description of problem: The car has a factory fitted hands free telephone system, a telephone cradle was purchased with the car (both brand  new), the hands free system worked fine wih my old Motorola RAZR-V3 phone which I replaced with my current Experia Arc S two months ago, the hands free system in the Mercedes also worked well with several other bluetooth enabled phones.  I have been able to get the new Sony to "pair" with the hands free system (using the pass key supplied by Mercedes: 62872) but it will not connect. The status on the phone states "Paired but not connected", the status on the Car dashboard states "Phone Off". I have followed all the instructions to the letter (several times) but without success.

I look forward to a speedy resolution to the problem.

Thanks in advance.
