black screen- no response

HI

I have an Xperia Arc. Connected it to my laptop to synchronise my contacts and calendar.  At the same time I was downloading the latest software for the phone.  At one point my phone made a small vibration sound and went blank , ie black screen.

Had a message to say that there was a phone error and software could not be downloaded

I tried to switch it on again, heard a short vibration but nothing happens - no Sony logo on screen as normally does. Screen remains black

I tried to remove the battery and the sim card and to restart again but no response.  The phone is not responding at all

Plse  help.  I have a lot of info on my phone and would hate to lose it all

what should i do?

It seems software repair is the only solution, means all data would be erased unfortunately

There is one way though ( in which your data would be saved) but that may result in loss of warranty

i;e using flashtool without erasing data
