Hi,
since a couple of weeks, my Arc S drains the battery very quickly, at a rate of 25% loss every hour (on a table, with screen off).
Few details here:
- the phone is left on a table, with screen off and no user activity
- the cell network is decent (3-4 bars)
- wifi is switched off
- gsm data exchange is switched off (only phone/sms service is on)
- no strange software running
When looking at battery usage, drain looks coming from "GSM standby" and "phone standby".
The phone, below the flash led and aside the SD keeps warm regardless the stand-by condition, and gets extremly hot when running apps. When running, a 1A USB connection is not capable keeping the battery, and phone discharges regardless the external supply provided
At the beginning I was thinking to a S/W problem, so:
- I removed useless S/W
- I updated the OS to the latest available
- I reduced network usage (wifi/gsm data switch off)
but no relevant improvement... It looks more a H/W problem (the PSU?)
Needless to say I put some money to buy a new battery (original): even with the new battery, I have the same problems, so it is not the battery!
Phone has been bought Jan 2012, so should be still in warranty. Which is the procedure to return it, and which is the hope it gets reparied at no charge (yes, phone looks working so w/o an in depth analysis the repair center may simply declare phone is good)?
Any other with a similar experience?
My region is: France
Thanks
Giorgio
Sorry to hear about your problems!
Have you tried to make a factory reset or a repair of the phone software using PC Companion?
If you haven't tried that you can start with that.
If the problem persists you should have the phone examined by a service center. Please contact your local support for more information:
