Battery problem in ion

Hi I purchased a sony xperia ion 6 months back and i have a weired battery problem.

The problem is my battery drains out in 10 to 12 hours on standby, and even less when using the phone.

This used to happen when i was in bangalore but when i went to a village i got an astonishing battery back up of 2 days of standby!! can anyone explain me how this is possible? Change in the location should not affect the life of battery but it actually is how is that possible????

Acutally no.... It get 4 complete bars when I experience a poor battery life...

That is odd as bad battery life based on a region is almost always due to reception issue, it wasn’t roaming was it?

No.... and how does roaming affect the battery's performance? This entire thing is baffled me...  I asked everyone and nobody has a proper answer for this.  I thought it would be a 2G, 3G network switching problem but I checked and its not.
