Just update to ICS and then use extended standby mode. The battery last more than a day heavy use for me

Battery usage is dependent on same issues irrespective of WHATEVER OS VERSION you are using. Extended standby mode sure helps a bit, but if you are using live wallpaper, 3g, lots of gaming, media apps etc, it will not be able to save your battery. If you are asleep and the battery drains 30%, it means something is wrong with something else, not the version, like the points mentioned above.

DO NOT THINK THAT ICS OR JB WILL ALLOW YOU TO HAVE A DREAM BATTERY OR ANYTHING.

My point for the links is READ about the things to be done for improving battery rather than making new threads about everything.

As about the links:

the first link was for you to find this post: http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/314351#314351

the second link is just a search link with keyword 'battery'

the third link has some great posts:

The battery drain is most likely due to the numerous apps and live wallpapers you have.

Please have a look here:

Also uninstall unrequired apps and apps that do not let the phone sleep. Try not to use a live wallpaper. Also take in note the brightness of the display.

First look at the topic given by Arnab

Other things you can do:

- keep wi-fi on during sleep only when plugged in or never (you can find that option under Settings > Wi-Fi > Advanced (press menu key) )

- Use Extended Standbay Mode (you can find that option under Settings > Power management)

-  use lighter versions of stock launcher and album

If you root your phone:

- Make a battery calibration (you can use a free application from the Google Play like Battery Calibration: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration )

- uninstall or freez bloatware or some appplications that runs in backgroundlike facebook, maps, office suite, etc.). you can use  Titanium Backup:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup and/or App Quarantine ROOT/FREEZE: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ramdroid.appquarantine (with App Quarantine you can add widgets of freez apps for quick access)

- use SetCPU to set CPU frequency to minimum when screen off (or whatever you're needs are)

- use some application to remove ads in the browser and other fre apps (app like AdFree Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bigtincan.android.adfree) Those adds from free games or other apps are a big consumer for battery

After all that my battery lasts about 1 - 1,5 day with medium-heavy usage and wi-fi always on

the fourth link is about 'xperia u battery'

Here is the announcement for you:

ANNOUNCEMENT: Make relevant topics

Hi,

When using this forum you should first use the search feature to find a thread or browse your product sub-forum. However this can become hard when a lot of threads has bad subjects/topics.

Please try to make as relevant subjects/topics as possible. Instead of typing "problem" type "USB connection problems" if that's your problem.

The purpose of the subject is to explain about the problem or question in short, but not too short or not too long. This makes it easier for other users to engage in relevant threads and contribute to the discussion.

Starting from today we will now delete all threads we run into that does not have a relevant subject/topic.

Nope those who say that the battery life sucks may be correct. It depends on the user of the phone you may love it or not. Those who say ics sux may be facing some bugs but most of the users love it and I tell you youll love it . Note the forum is mostly for members who face issues. Like if you hadnt some issues would you ever come to this forum? Just update to ICS and you will fly.
