We in The Netherlands had to wait a very long time before finally getting officially ICS for our Xperias.
It is 4.0.4 build 6.1.1.B.1.54
I eventually installed it 2 weeks ago and noticed these things:
- Phone reacts a bit sluggish,
- Built-in standby app disappeared
- Chrome finally works
- Integrated backup solution (save content from phone to memory stick)
- Battery drainage
The last one is really bad. I charged my phone all night long, Wifi, BT etc off.
The next morning I just turn on Wifi, browse a few pages using chrome, no game apps etc: I loose 10% battery per hour. If I place a call or activate BT it is even worse ...
With the old OS, I was able to use Wifi, call, game apps, BT etc the whole day and in the evening I still had 50% battery.
There is an option to deactivate Wifi when screen gets dark. But what´s the point of this ? I got a modern phone and want to sync in the background ! And this also worked in Gingerbread.
Am I the only one expereincng this problem ? Will there be afix ? Or is it a feature ? An incentive to buy a new phone )mine is not even a year old) ?

I can't use the phone all day: the battery is empty before the end of the afternoon. Too bad !!
I have micro-USB chargers in more places now and charge the phone whenever possible.
I use audio streaming over WiFi and GSM often (Radio 1); when on for 2 hours my phone is dead ... .
I hope that the new update will stop this battery-test as I didn't give permission of being a Beta-Tester

same problem here (NL): half a day of usage and phone is nearly dead
Have you tried making any master reset after the update? If not I suggest that you do and check if you still experience this.
What is a master reset and how can I do that ?
After the update, the os needs some time so settle, about 15-20 charges until the phone works good.So wait a little bit.if nothing improves, either reset the phone to factory settings with erasing all data,or repair the software.
The master reset means you reset your phone to what it came with from the factory.it means the apps and settings will be deleted, and taken to default. It can be done in settings-backup and reset.
Sounds strange. Can't believe that you have to deinstall everything and wait 15-20 times until it works good. It's not a machine which needs oil or ar running-in period: it's just a phone !
Wonder what Quality Control at Sony did ...
And do not want to know how the SW in an plane or nuclear plant looks like ...
It is not a machine,it is an operating system which needs time to see how it can work at full capacity. It needs to see what programs you use,how much you charge the phone, and then it will get better. You do not need to uninstall everything, that is in case your phone performance does not improve after some time on the new software, then it is recommended to repair the phone and reset to factory settings.
