Battery Charging Issues?

Hey everyone.

So I got my Xperia X10 last month, and since then I've been having major problems with it.

Within 3 days of getting the phone, the charger stopped working. I was told the battery was damaged, and I had to get the phone replaced. Now, the replacement phone has stopped charging too! I was just wondering if anyone else out there are having problems with their phones, or if I'm just unlucky? Slightly_frowning_Face

BTW - I love the phone, but the fact that 2 have stopped charging has really put me off it >.<</p>

Hi Jack,

I also have problems with mine, this is my 3rd phone in a month, the battery is lasting no more then half a day, I'm not a heavy texter and my calls are short and sweet. like you i like the phone but its not doing what it says on the box. very disappointed but Orange are on the case and i hope to get resolved ASAP.

1.Try using startup manager and pic and choose what apps start up.

2. I also keep wifi and data connection off, unless I really want to use.

3. Any app manager to kill apps by choice would also help and save battery. I use TASK PANEL. (Less used)

4. Screen brightness set to 3%, pretty good for indoors.

My phone put to charge around midnight would have 30 to 50(some times70) next midnight.

One more issue, Phone take couple of hrs to charge and then discharges. So when I wake up it is at about 95%. I normally unplug and plug it back to charger to get 100% charge.

So :

Morning :100% (7am)

Midnight :50%

I can safely assume, in one charge, phone would last 24hrs with modeate use(couple of call/SMS and say about 30mins of browsing on data/couple of hrs on wifi).

HI Swilton, did you get the phone directly from Orange?  I got my phone through Phones4u - Orange, the network, say they can't help with my battery problem (see my post below) but Phones4u are offering £20 for me to either buy a new battery or to buy a new PAYG phone to enable me to return my handset to SE for assessment.  I am confident of neither option being the answer and would ideally want to change to a different model/make entirely now.

Hi Aloksk,

My routine:

8am - take off charger, battery at 100% and use Advanced Task Killer to stop any/all apps and tasks

3pm - battery at around 30% even when most days I have no tasks/apps/phonecalls/texts - in short the phone is not being used at all!

4pm - if I haven't put the phone back on charge at work (which I have now been forced to do), the phone loses its charge entire and switches itself off

In short, the battery is rubbish.  I was aware of the poor customer reviews of the battery life, but stupidly I presumed this happened in only a few unlucky cases.  I suspect the problem is much more widespread.  Wi-fi is switched off and I don't often use it for browsing.

I don't think the problem is the settings or how much I use it - if anything the phone is underused (and I ensure throughout the day that there are not any tasks running).

Bad battery capacity is common on ALL smartphones with large 3" or up larger screens and no amount of tweaking will help this save turning off things you don't use all the time.

Until new battery technology is introduced we will have to live with it. I always carry a spare battery anyway and if Iam going away for a few days a charger as well this is the only logical solution.

P.S. A good job you guyz don't remember the early days before lithim ion brick 'phone only lasted 1 hr on average and tore a hole in suit pocket!!!!!
