Backup Restore - repairs updates and stuff

I'm new to Android (1st device) and would like to know about what can be restored from a backup if I get a firmware update or use PCC to do a repair/reinstall

I've used the standard backup tool and selected everything except media files (which are on my SD card) will this restore everything to current settings - installed apps - messages - notes - calendar entries etc as though I hadn't done any updates

Just wanted to know what I will lose if anything

The backup & restore app will restore almost everything like messages, notes, calendar (local calendar), settings and even apps and their data. This means that you will not lose progress in games and such. There may however be some 3:rd party apps that doesn't support backup but you can see what apps that will be saved under "Downloaded apps with data" when making the backup.
