Backup in safe mode

Hello forum!

I have some issues with my xperia Z.My volume down button is dead and my phone is stuck in safe mode.I just got a new xperia z3 dual and i want to restore my data from xperia z.

Is it possible to do this in safe mode?

I tried a backup with pc companion but it hangs after a while.Keep in mind that I can t run apps on my phone so Xperia Desktop or Xperia Transer are not a viable option.

Sorry to hear about your phone.

If you have alot of media files in the phone it will take some time to make a backup if you include media and other files. It may appear as PC Companion is not responding so first try to wait if you haven't tested that.

To check if this might be the issue you can try to make a backup and only enable for example contacts or messages when you do the backup. That should not take very long.

Can you provide me a version of pc companion where contacts and transfer are not replaced by Xperia Transfer/Desktop?

Did you try using Back up & restore option on PC Companion?

As Quester says, you should use Backup & restore in PC Companion. This backup can then be used to migrate to your new phone or used by Xperia Transfer in PC Companion.

Is it only contacts that this happens with? What happens if you try to backup only messages or only calendar? You should still be able to backup while in safe mode.
