Back up and heating issues

Out of the blue my Z1C started to heat. A lot.

Also the aluminum flap cover of the SIM card protrudes and is not smooth. I had the phone protected by a cover all these 3 months +  hence did not notice it. I went to Sony today and they acknowledged is not right and being under warranty offered to fix it. I went back home and tried to back it up as advised by Sony and surprise! I can not back it up. I have installed the latest PC companion. I have removed the SD card. I unchecked the pictures, video, music and kept only messages, notes, calls etc.

So I might loose **bleep** everything.

These while the phone is getting unusually hot up to 43 degrees C.

On top of the ever freezing camera.

I don't like to bash products and I learn to live with the flaws. However Sony disappointed.

Edit: I also restarted both computer and phone. The phone I have restrated in both normal and safe mode.

Update: I've been to Sony and the SIM tray cover issue is appaently a slightly deformed frame which of course is my fault cause I kept it in my pocket.

So, if confirmed I will get a quotation for the fix. But wait! It is still in warranty!

Sorry Sir, that is not covered.

On the bright side they will perform (free of charge) a waterproof test to see if this “alleged” property of the phone is intact.

Cool!

Never thought that Xperia’s are so delicate. I even bought it for outdoors use.

iPhone 6 is out

The quote for replacing the back cover is aprox. USD130 which is almost a quarter of what I paid for the phone. Even the representative said is too expensive and would not recommend changing it. However I was informed that it will affect the waterproofness so Sony is covered is something goes wrong.

How can a back cover bend? Really!

They also mentioned they fixed the camera and there was a software issue. I asked whether within 1-2 weeks it will come back and was informed that I can leave it with them for further testing Slightly_smiling_Face

No, thanks I'll test it myself

I'll keep posting ...

I refused to pay the amount and had only the SIM cover changed. There was no difference. The representative did a stupid test placing the phone on the table and pushing one corner of the phone showed me how it moves / rocks due to the bent, uneven back. Then explained that that is the reason why the lid is still not flat and why there is no warranty for waterproof. I reluctantly took it back and checked one of the demos in the shop. Surprise: that was not straight and the SIM cover fit perfectly. That maddened me and made me go back and ask for a better explanation. So Sony took the phone back and I wait for the next round...tomorrow

The camera was fixed. Apparently it was a software problem hihi

Good news. Sony agreed to.change the entire mid frame, the SIM cover. The unit passed the waterproof test and yes I am happy

And fortunate to.have the shop close to.my office

The phone is snappier and very smooth after it was serviced. The battery life seems shorter but I need to test more.

Glad to hear that this got sorted; regarding the battery life, this can be a bit off for the first week or so after repair but tends to settle.

We mainly b...h about the phone on this forums and so I did in this thread as well.

I am running it since the repair and man is smooth, clear, bugless

While I am very pleased I can not not wonder why wasn't it from the beginning.

Ok, camera froze again. I tried to take several pictures on quick succession and the camera succumbed.

The battery settled. I have emptied it completely 2-3 times. With moderate use I get almost 2 days. Camera is ok but still...
