Aux Cable audio output problem

I just bought an Xperia z3 compact and I'm very happy with it. But if I connect my phone to my speakers with a standard Aux 3.5 mm cable, the music still plays on my phone.
The cable and the speaker work with my old IPhone.
(The audio output on my z3 compact works perfectly with my headphones)

How many pinouts are on the cable compared to your headphones as it sounds like the cable isn't compatible - I think your cable will have 3 where as most headphones have 4 or 5

I'm not very familiar with this, so how can I see how many pinouts a cable has?
As far as I can tell my headphone jack has 2 "rings" and my aux cable jack has 3 "rings".

i have this problem too - do you know if its covered by warranty?

No but it worked with another aux cable with a different audio jack
