Automatically locked phone

Hi,

I just recently got my first android, a sony xperia zl. Everything has been going good so far, but tonight when I was going through my phone, I realised all of my contacts had been deleted, then the phone shut off, but when it turned back on, it was on a locked screen. The kicker is that I never set a PIN number to lock my screen, and previously didn't have the phone set to a locked screen before all of this happened. I do the mcafee mobile security installed, and I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but this morning I woke up with an email saying that my SIM card had been changed (which it hadn't). I've tried using the mcafee code to unlock, but it's not working. Has anyone had this problem before?? I just got the phone a week ago, and I have to say, this is not a good first android experience after never coming across a problem like this with my old iphone...
