automatic brightness

Dear guys,

how to make light sensor in Xperia U to work automatically? i entered settings > display > brightness, and checked automatic brightness box, but i don't notice the screen dims or changes according to the differents light intensity?

Then if it is showing 0 it means you are in relative dark, try taking the phone sensor, in the front of the phone, directly to a light and see the sensor reading when the light is shining on the sensor, as soon as you move it away, the sensor will show the new light readings, so the best way to do the test is with a flashlight directly on the sensor at the front.

My tests:

normal room: reading 1

in sunlight: reading 4

flashlight: reading 8

remember sensor is in the front top

i did try this to test my light sensor and it worked, it gave different values.

but when i use my phone in different light environments my screen's brightness seems the same as if light sensor doesn't change screen brightness?

it's not really that noticeable when light changes, especially if you have set the brightness to the max

brightness is not to max, maybe average or less.

shouldn't light sensor adjust screen brightness according to ambient lights? it's not about notice, screen brightness doesn't change at all under any light intensity despit that "automatic brightness" box is checked. somebody with Xperia U has such issue? and question to Xperia Team

brightness doesnt change in my mobile too. Its not a major issue but still I would love that to work. The sensor works fine though. It seems like a s/w issue or the change in light aint so much as to trigger a brightness change. My default brightness setting is pretty low, 20% to be xact

If the sensor shows you different values it should work. Try to see the screen in the sunlight and then move fast in a darker area and see if the brightness changes. Select a low brightness on that bar to make the difference more visible. If the selected brightness is also high then the difference won't be noticeable. If you can see the screen in the sunlight, then it works. And try the same without Automatic checked.

The test works fine but it isnt working in the model, right? Just wait for the s/w release in early august or root or repair(SUS) your phone. I would suggest the waiting part. I could see my screen faintly in the sunlight, so maybe its working, maybe its not. Arnab

my phone is acting little wierd. sensor test some times works(shows values other than 0) and sometimes doesn't(shows only 0 in any light).

and when it worked, if I  select auto brightness, the brightness is going too(in sunlight) high or too low(in room). Infact lower than that can be set manuaaly(i.e 10%),  and it was not difficult for me to notice it.

so it does not seem to be adjusting well to according to ambient light even if the sensor is working.

ICS didn't resolve this issue to me.... Anyone else?
