Automatic Brightness Adjustment

Hi guys,

I have the Xperia U for about 3 months now. And as I talked with my friends who own another Android, I realized my phone was not working normally.

When turning on the Automatic Brightness for the screen (ticked the box in the brightness level screen), it doesn't change at all, in any kind of light environment (very sunny, night without light, and even with a flashlight directly next to the Ambient Light Sensor). I realized that when I told my friends that it sucked that the screen brightness didn't get lower when I was reading articles in complete darkness like before sleeping...
I consulted different threads in this forum, and people asked to test the Ambient Light Sensor by entering the code *#*#7378423#*#* and Service Test > Ambient Light Sensor. It appeared that the sensor worked properly detecting light (values: Office ~ 12; Office with light on ~ 80; Sun ~ 800; Below my thumb ~ 0). It means the Automatic Brightness Adjustment doesn't take this parameter into account.

Does anybody have the same problem with his/her Xperia U?

Is this a known software problem that will change in next updates or do I have to contact the Sony Service Support in my country?

Hey, I also noticed automatic brightness doesn't really work as it should. It does go dark, but it doesn't really brighten up when in the sun. Not enough at least. The sensor works fine on test.

Also, I've seen other people complain about this for this model (in another forum).
Someone suggested that the screen protector might be the culprit, I'm going to test it and let you know.

edit: seems a bit better without the screen protetor, but it's still not as it should be.

I believe that it's working. But no as fast as u expect it to be. it take some time to adjust the brightness. in other words the reaction time is very low. i think that's to save the battery.
^ sorry about my bad english. Cheers Slightly_smiling_Face
