Auto Camera takes too long to take photo

Hi,

I ditched my Iphone in favour of the great reviews I had heard about the Z1 and it's ability to take great photos.  I have a 2 year old and use my phone all the time to take pictures and videos for family who live interstate and overseas.  The problem I have is on Auto setting it takes too long running through all the different options that I miss the moment.  I have taken hundreds of photos and videos already and not one single one with movement works on the Auto Camera.  Am I doing something wrong?I have found the manual setting gives me blurry photos.  I never once had this issue with my Iphone 5.  I have started taking the burst photos to try to get at least one picture that works.

I have another issue with MMS.  For example, if I send an MMS to my husband, everyone else that I message that day will have the same photo MMS in the draft and I have to delete it for everyone.

Those are my two major issues that I cannot seem to find any help for.  I have had some more problems but they are not urgent at the moment.

Sorry if this has been answered, I tried to find the answer before I posted.

Thanks in advance.

With regards to the issue of clear photos when moving please remember that the Z1 does not have optical image stabilisation so there is no ability for the camera to adapt to hand shake or other physical movements. The bets way to capture a good in focus image is to have the phone still.

The better the light as well the better the image as the shorter shutter speed with be used.

Never had the MMS issue so I can't help on that one i'm afraid.

Hi sorry, I don't think I explained that very well.  I mean when my subject is moving, ie my daughter.  It works okay when I am taking say a picture of the sunset but it just keeps cycling through the auto options while trying to take a photo of her, I think because she is moving and it's like the phone can't work out what it is taking a picture of.

And thanks for the reply Slightly_smiling_Face

It can be a bit tricky using auto mode in that sort of condition. With a sunset you have extreme light and dark conditions which are not a problem with a still photo but a moving shot the conditions are changing very sharply./ With this being the case you would be best to use the manual mode.

I second this problem.

No other phone i have had so far has had this problem, in my case its not that people are moving very much, just moving their eyes, shoulders or some other small movement, the camera just refuses to choose mode and shoot, making it utterly useless.

Since both iphone, samsung and htc can take these kind of everyday pictures, there clearly is something wrong with the camera app, it got a little better after i upgraded to 4.3, but still a long way from iphones speed.
