audio stutter

I've had this phone for a few months now, it's had various updates but the problem has yet to be resolved.

Problem: phone seems unable to play audio properly. Frequently stuttering / lagging.

This is apparent when using the Walkman app to play music from a large collection on a 64gb class 10 micro Sd card. The audio is mostly ogg vorbis, but there is a mix with some mp3 and various other formats.
My 5 year old Nokia N900 can play all the audio flawlessly.

I use my phone for music only on occasion when I have to do a long 7 hour commute, I have observed the following :

When stationary lags / stutters are infrequent, can usually get through at least a few tracks between problems.
When on the train it can rarely get thru a single track without issue, often struggling every few seconds.
When on foot entering / leaving the underground frequently triggers stutters.

Enabling airplane mode possibly completely illiminates the problem.
Turning off data seems to reduce the problem.

Conclusion: something to do with either wifi or the Mobile radio kernel modules is hogging cpu time and interrupting audio playback. Is hard to tell exactly what as it seems impossible to completely disable wifi without enabling airplane mode.

Having done a Google search I find many other similar complaints relating to Xperia/Walkman. Can we expect this to ever be fixed?

Several days past since I posted this and no reply from Sony.
Having browsed the forum a bit more I see this seems to be the norm.
I hadn't posted about it so far but I'm also having the touch screen issues many report.
First Sony product I've bought in years, and I guess last also.

I've noticed similar audio blip issues on my Z1 too.

I have tried both sony walkman app and amazon mp3 player. Both appear to have the same issue, so it is probably a system issue rather than an app issue.

For me it happens when the phone leaves/enters areas with signal. My house gets little to no phone signal so we have a 3G booster from the mobile operator. When I have the music playing through the car from my phone, as I get to the end of my street (max distance the booster operates) the audio cuts for a split second. I would classify it as a "stutter". I can see how this would be really frustrating if I was going in/out of signal whilst listening to music. My Samsung Galaxy S2 that I had in the same house never had this issue. Neither did my HTC Hero or HTC Diamond.

Definitly a Sony Xperia Z1 issue.

Please fix!

P.s. I always keep the phone updated and have checked to see if there are any new updates both via the Sony update centre app and directly connected to the Sony companion program on a PC.

I have that same problem on my Xperia Z C6603... It's like a corrupt ness in the middle of a song... When we play any corrupted sond in PC we all know how it sounds in the place where the corrupt exists...

In the initial days I thought it is my download problem... But I saw some times that same song plays with ease...

I also noticed that this GLITCH happens more with higher bitrate audio (320kbps)... I noticed this is not that frequent for 190kbps or 128kbps MP3 songs... One or Two gliches out of 10 songs for lower bitrate songs...

I even tried other players but no luck... I hope they (SONY) fixes it...

I have bought 2 Xperia Z phones first one had other problems so I replaced it with my current phone... In both the phones I have seen the same Audio issue... I don't understand why SONY isn't fixing anythig...

Same issue here on a 5502. Seems to have developed over time. No idea what started it happening. Also player-independent. I'll try airplane mode and see whether that makes any difference.
