Audio port issue

Without earphones in the port the messages 'connected: headset', 'headset' and 'audio settings still continually flash up and I can't listen to audio without the use of earphones as the phone thinks they are already in use. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

try booting up in safe mode..

try to check your port physically, is there something stuck inside? dust lint, or a metal conductor.

try to reinsert your headset and gently remove

Fixed this problem, for anyone else having the same issue I kept the headphones in for an hour or so which seemed to fix whatever the problem was.
