Apple 3 button remote earphones

I have a Z5 Compact. I'd like to get some earphones for it, but after a lot of searching I'm still confused, please can anyone help? I have Android compatible earphones with 3 button remote and only the volume up/down buttons work on the Xperia.

Please can anyone confirm what an Apple compatible headset does? I think the volume up/down doesn't work, but what does the middle button do? Can you use the mic for calls and does the start/stop skip work? Specifically at the minute I am considering the Bose Sound Sport, and I may get the Apple version if there is better functionality with it. Thanks for any help.

mix results if you use the search bar and check the forum, some say that the button works as volume up, some other say that it work as a regular button which mean it will end calls, play/stop music, etc.

Thank you very much for your response. I did thoroughly search the forums, and generally the Internet.

The mixed comments are what is making me ask the question again! I think I may get more functionality using the Apple version of remote headphones. I wish I had some to test this (mine are Android) and was hoping that someone did have some. I'll try Bose again tomorrow although they weren't very sure when I asked about what functionality the Android version may have with Sony phones. I'm not even sure if the call facility would work.
