I have a Ray, and I am becoming increasingly annoyed by the customer care from Sony and the lack of info given from Sony as to when my phone will receive the ics update. I have contacted Sony numerous times and each time I haven't been satisfied with them. In relation to the update, each time I've contacted them, they told me to wait for a few weeks and I would be sorted. However I am still waiting. I have been told that unbranded phones receive the update before branded phones. My ray is unbranded but still nothing whereas people I know who have a ray, which is branded, have updated to ics. I'm sick and tired of being told to wait and "connect to the pc companion everyday and check for updates". In my mind it is unacceptable and most disappointing. Feel free to share your experiences here, good and bad. Hopefully Sony will finally realise that their customers are not happy and will do something to make us happpier!
Yes you are right. Unfortunately.
I think the majority of 2011 Xperia owners have been disappointed by Sony's Mobile feeble attempt to introduce ICS to its 2011 Xperia range and fulfil its promise of 18 months support for its phones
The majority of customers who were fortunate to get the update have had an extremely poor experience, problems with screens lag and performance, battery life, GPS, notification, crashes and reboots, WIFI, hotspots to name a few.
Even more concerning is the sustained lack of information from Sony Xperia Support regarding information on the ICS and Jelly Bean update.
Sony has deliberately mislead and misinformed us about the hardware requirements needed to run ICS (as they have released lower spec hardware running a fluid and stable ICS).
I feel totally disappointed by Sony Mobile and after 20 years of being a Sony Ericsson customer I have come to the realisation that Sony has lost the respect and confidence of its customers and feel like many others it’s time to switch manufacturers
I very much agree with what you said. Unfortunately, mx Xperia Ray is about to be the only Sony phone I ever bought, if Sony had showed good support, I would happily buy another Xperia when it is time to change my phone. Now I know that I will ignore Sony models and will be looking for other manufacturers, which are known for good software support (there are a few).
Android, or smartphone users tend to be a little hungry for software innovations, which is why I bought an Xperia, otherwise I would buy a dumber phone with stable solid firmware. Letting down Xperia customers about software and firmware is a big deal breaker I think...
