I've had my Xperia Ion for about 3 months now or since it released in the U.S., and so far it's been an awesome phone EXCEPT for the actual "phone" capabilities just until recently. Whenever I am on the phone with people now, my mic muffles, decreases the volume, or totally mutes audio on the other end of the call, so no one can really understand me, unless I'm on speaker phone which even sometimes doesnt work unless I speak really loudly and I can't always do that because I'm in college and often times in public. Was wondering if any of the other Xperia Ion owners experienced this and if you have, were you able to remedy it yourself?
I asked Sony Support about this and they said I would need to send it in for repair. I really want to avoid this because there would be just TOO many settings, backgrounds, apps, and app settings to readjust if I sent my phone in and got it formatted and repaired. If I do unfortuantly have to do this, how can I smoothly and most efficiently backup my phone's internal contents? And also how do I go about sending my phone into Sony?
I had mine since Oct of 2012; it took me a week to "prove" to AT&T that the mic was faulty before they would offer to replace mine 1.5 weeks ago (people could only hear me talk if I put my phone on speaker). Long story short, they sent me two replacements that were no good. After tiring of dealing with AT&T, I went to Best Buy since I'm already paying $10 a month for the damn insurance. I've had my "reconditioned" Ion for 3 days and this one has defective bluetooth. I swear on my kids' life I'll never buy another Sony "anything" again and I'm giving AT&T the boot as soon as possible. In the meantime, I have to go back to Geek Squad again this week and stand in line again for who knows how long.
This happened to me with my Xperia Ion after update to Android JB 4.1.2. No idea if it is the same issue, but this is how I solved:
1) Plug the head-phones in.
2) Power off the phone (soft-reset), leaving the head-phones plugged in.
3) Power the phone back on again.
4) When the phone has fully booted to the today screen, remove the head-phones.
