These are the problems I have experienced so far and have not had any feedback from Sony as to how to fix them. Anyone got any suggestions apart from demanding a refund?
*This device doesn't work at all as an MP3 player as it is advertised to do. Adding music directly through USB and copying to the SD card does not work, even though the manual says this is possible. I tried adding albums to it using Sony's (almost useless) Media Go program and it shows all the songs and albums as being on the SD card (filling up about half of a 16GB SD card) but it takes a VERY LONG TIME to load into the music select menu.
*Once the device does finally get to the music select screen, you can only play the first song of any artist or album and then it stops dead. The skip next button just pauses that one song when you try pressing it. The only way to see the other songs is to scroll through the entire list of unsorted songs, which is of course a ridiculous way to play or categorise music, and then once it reaches the first song listed and you try to scroll backwards, the device resets itself!
*You are unable to create any playlists for the device, so it's a bit pointless even listing it in the menu.
*In addition, the Android Bluetooth (BT) call features hardly ever work. Even if it's paired with my Samsung Galaxy Note phone through BT and a call comes in, I can hear the call ringing and despite pressing the black button as the instructions say, nothing happens at all and I need to take the call on the phone instead. Using it with Viber to try to call, it cuts in and out in the middle of the call, switching between the phone's speaker and no sound at all. I had the MW600 before this product and at least that was able to do basic music playback with correct artist/song information (which this device does not do at all) and the bluetooth functions of the MW600 worked (which they don't on this piece of junk).
*If that wasn't enough, the text to speech function is sporadic in its operation at best, mostly non-functioning the majority of the time, for both gmail and text messages, even after installing the required apps from the Play market.
*The FM radio function is really a joke. You can't store any preset stations and then each time you start it up it always begins from 00.0mhz every time, not even remembering which frequency you used last time.
*How can this be called a "premium" device when it doesn't even support basic .mp3 playback, let alone common lossless filetypes like .flac?
*When I first turned the product on and paired it with my phone it said it was updating. Then when I looked up the Sony support website it shows a .bin update file with instructions to update. Is this the same update? I tried installing it exactly as the instructions said and there was absolutely no response from the device as to whether it updated or not. It is ridiculous to assume that posting an update file without a date or version number on a website will be of any use to users because how can we possibly determine which file is required? Regardless, no updates or firmware revisions have fixed any of the issues I have mentioned so far in this review.
I paid a lot of money for this device (especially compared to cheaper but similar products from other brands) because of the advertised premium features it should have come with and because I thought Sony was a reputable brand and I expect it at least to do the basic functions that it is claimed to. I assumed that perhaps it was just me that had a faulty device but after reading reviews on this and other sites as well as this I have found that it is the device itself which is seriously flawed.
For a brand that supposedly prides itself on high quality products, this is totally unacceptable from Sony.
Sorry to hear you're having all these issues.
Since Smart Wireless Headset Pro was released, we've released one update for it. Have a look at this link: http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/accessories/smart-wireless-headset-pro/
Scroll down a bit on that page and you'll find "New software upgrade available".
Have you done this? It not, please do.

Yes, I have done this - as I stated in the message:
"*When I first turned the product on and paired it with my phone it said it was updating. Then when I looked up the Sony support website it shows a .bin update file with instructions to update. I don't consider my question answered or the problems resolved, especially since the person responding didn't even read my post... Sony still hasn't written a version or date for the update on their website, which I consider pretty pointless. What is the latest version of the firmware supposed to be?
I saw all your problems listed and quickly read it through looking for "I've tried to update". I clearly read it to fast. Sorry about that, my bad.
As for the "assumed answered" check the 2nd announcement on the main page on this forum for a detailed explanation to this.
The software version name/number isn't listed anywhere on the website but you can check this in the device itself. Back button > Settings > System info. The latest one is called 0.1.B.0.6.
Since you've already done the update and still are having problems I suggest you download Update Service. http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/
With this program you can redo the installation which hopefully solves your issues. If not, I'd suggest you take it back to the store.

Same problem here, if I clear bluetooth data, do a firmware reset on the mw1, and pair again the first call works. Any other calls after that have no sound. A pity as it's an expensive gadget, Sony please fix this!
ps - I'm on the latest everything, firmware smart connect etc. Android 4.2.1
