Android Marshmallow 6 on our Xperia Z5

Good Morning to You ALL !

This is our big day

Our most expected day

Android 6 MM has landed on our Xperia Z5

Right now, is rolling for different models and on different countries so in few hours, or in one or two day, it will be on your phone, unless u're on a branded-operator phone where u should wait more days to come

So, 7th March was right as we expected based on TWITTER INFO by Sony Xperia GB Winking_Face

More news to come !

Hi @Robertods88, nothing via OTA or PC Companion for UK Customized Z5 Compact (E5823, 1298-5497 R11B).

Thanks, JH

I've upgraded my Z5 using PC Companion today. First impressions:

  • Smoother UX and UI: nothing is drastically different, but everything is tighter
  • Phone runs faster
  • Wifi and mobile data seem to be improved though I may be perceiving that
  • I'm unsure about the battery life at the moment: I used Google Fit today at the gym and while walking and it seems to be draining the battery faster with Marshmallow than it did on Lollipop. I took my phone off charge at 3pm and have used it quite heavily since – Google Fit, audiobook, Facebook, email, etc – and it's telling me that my estimated battery life will last until around 8am tomorrow. There seems to be more of a drain in standby for some reason, but I'm not sure why.

Hey I am using MM since couple of days and here are my impressions:

  • UI is much faster, all animations smooth (messaging app still has lags when scrolling heavy threads or you have a lot of conversations and scrolling its main view but still even this app is working much smoother than before)
  • Battery life improved! After few days for me battery life is working much longer! Especially SOT. Among all others this is the best feature that I get with Android 6.0 so far! Now I can finally consider it up to 2 days battery life, so happy about that Slightly_smiling_Face Slightly_smiling_Face Slightly_smiling_Face
  • unable to move apps to SD anymore + when you go to Settings - -> apps = there is only the list of all applications installed, no tab with apps moved to SD, no tab with apps currently running and being allocated in RAM (this is moved now to hidden developer section, Sony why! Slightly_frowning_Face  )
  • no Stamina mode, but if you imagine it is working longer now, it can be only even better
  • is this only me or autofocus is working much faster, more consistent, I mean previously it was looking to focus much longer in specific conditions, not it is much faster for me, focues ideally, only in low light it may need little bit more time to focus, but even in these conditions it is faster and more PRECISE
  • bluetooth issues are resolved for me, I can connect and use my bluetooth devices without any problem
  • auto-brightness issue fixed
  • small bugs like no icons in Battery section when displaying details
  • NO HEATING AT ALL - this is just great, Sony should  now resend Z5 to all websited and youtubers to review Z5 again with MM! If someone if not choosing Z5 because it is "device with Snapdragon 810 - the hottest processor on the market" is simply wrong!!! And needs to test Z5 with Android 6.0 ASAP! The device is just cold, the only moment it can get warmer s gaming or camera, but still much much cooler than before. When going through UI it is completely COLD. I had a long conversation with a friend for about 1h30mins and you know what? It was completely COLD Slightly_smiling_Face Winking_Face Slightly_smiling_Face

Overall this is a grat update, now I understand why it took so long.
The only thing I hope is the same people will continue to work on the software Slightly_smiling_Face
They should get a bonus after such great updates to devices.

    Thank you.

Agree a little bit more battery drain in standby but mostly it is because of lack of STAMINA mode that is coming soon.
Still these are just few percentages, other than that battery life improved for me a lot, especially SOT and my device lasts longer.

One question for the Support Staff:

Did you release Marshmallow just in a few countries to get a bug report, while the biggest european countries have to wait until you fix them in 6.0.1?

Honestly, that's my impression after 8 days from the "official" rollout...

1.) less stuttering across user interface

2.) some cosmetic changes in user interface
3.) small apps bar hides when you scroll recent apps

4.) a little bit fast camera starting time (maybe 1 second or so)
5.) google voice available at lockscreen instead of dialer

6.) security enhancements ( makes you enter the pin/password when device is restarted even after fingerprint accepted)

7.)same easter egg as lollipop

8.) fingerprint sensor displays where your prints were detected

9.) increase in RAM usage maybe around 5-10%

10.) same storage allocation for android system

11.)  built in explore option in storage menu

12.) able to configure app permission ( this is getting annoying,, when you are using an app for the first time it keeps asking what permissions it can have, not asking all at once,.)

13.) system apps are now hidden making browsing apps in settings faster

14.)do not disturb toggle and option

15.) network options now includes LTE only, WCDMA only GSM only options, previously only available on hidden menu

16.) new home screen settings options

17.) search application suggestions

18.) stickers in messaging app

19.) no more support for external SD mount as MSC

20.) usb connectivity pop up evertime you connect to computer.

21.)missing icons in battery usage screen

22.) missing Google on Tap

It is funny people saying their battery lasts longer as mine lasts about half as long after a full day of use after the MM upgrade. I used Stamina mode quite a bit though.

In addition I've noticed the following:
- auto-correct/complete is much slower;
- the phone runs much warmer than with Lollipop; and
- my phone persistently and randomly will disconnect from the mobile network, so I have missed calls.

It seems fairly smooth when there is plenty of battery, but with less than 10%, it slows more than running with Lollipop.
