Android 4.4 Kit Kat

1. Will Sony released the Android 4.4 firmware upgrade for the Xperia Go (after Google has released the source code)?

This is because Google Android 4.4 Kit Kat has been rumoured to supports older phone as older as Android 2.2 Frozen Yogurt.

I just hoped that Sony takes part on giving the updates to every older Xperia device.

When can we expect an upgrade to 4.3 or 4.4 for Sony Xperia Go. Is it slated to get either of them? Please update with specific timeline if any. Also please dont paste any links for phones slated for upgrades where Xperia Go is not listed. This does not help as I have already read all of them on the Forum.

FYI... I also checked Blogs http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2013/07/25/on-android-jelly-bean-4-3/

Please let us know when can we expect the same in India.

Hi,

even when Sony is lazy or sees no point in updating older phones, it is still possible to update your phone because there are people who develop for our device as their hobby.

I have KitKat 4.4.2 on my xGO and wrote small how to, it was first time for me to do any of this and it took about 2h to do:

Thanks kvl for that little writeup. If it wouldn't render my BT carkit useless I would've done that already.

As for KitKat, folks, forget it! Sony has never properly supported this device. The only way to make it run smooth is by downgrading to Gingerbread. Let's face it, that's not a viable solution. We're just stuck with phone that has been deserted since day one. They patched it up on two occasions and failed miserably. It's become clear that this lack of customer service is starting to show in Sony's global market position. Photography, Mobile, Audio, Television, Computing, etc. They are losing their dominant position in all aspects because of the relentless strategies they continue to uphold towards customers. If they hadn't been so foolish, they would probably still have one of the strongest market positions today.

I'd hate to say I told you so, Sony Winking_Face
