Sony in their announcement today declared that 2012 devices will recieve the Jelly Bean update, however the list of phones doesn't mention Xperia Sola and U? What sort of a contradiction is this ?
Xperia Go (same internals) and Xperia J (way inferior) have been listed. Did Sony give the list as an example or made a mistake by not mentioning?
Senior members and Sony representaives please clarify.
Hi Alena,
Are you still waiting for official ics update for xperia u? or did you recieve the update?
Ubaid, your last reply to my question . . .
"Yes xperia u can recieve JB possible because if xperia go bad ppi device (which is not good as xperia u in terms of screen resolution) and xperia j (which is less spec. than xperia u) can update to JB then why not both xperia u and sola can update to JB too. "
I have several questions :-
1) If I want to update to JB, what's the requirements ? Because I'm using Gingerbread (2.3). Should I update to ICS (4.0) before upgrade to JB (4.1 / 4.2) ?
2) So, in case, if Xperia U can receive update to JB, when will we receive the SI numbers for JB update ? Because http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/53823 , this thread, SI number had been removed !
Sorry for this very late reply but i am still waiting maybe they are not gonna release the update for my si number
I am using Xperia U and I am still received the ICS update so far.
I am in Qatar
Any possibilities?
Or will I get Jelly Bean update?
all of my friends using samsung and LG phone got ICS update and I am still waiting.

can i root xperia u and make it jelly bean ?
please answer me fast
i have got mad for finding xperia sola 4.1 updates , according to this article it says Xperia Sola and its 3 other family members will also get jelly bean http://www.techenclave.com/news/exclusive-sony-xperia-gosolapu-getting-jelly-bean-early-december-oth... , plz check
It's funny, how Sony decides which phones gets Jelly Bean update. I guess they don't reck to the phone spec., because Xperia U has 1 GHz STE U8500 Dual Core processor and 512 MB of RAM. Now here is the fun part. Samsung phones with 800 MHz Cortex-A5 processor and 512 MB of RAM gets Jelly Bean update. Even Sony Xperia mini is more capable, than some Samsung's devices, but who's getting Jelly Bean update? Not Sony's, but Samsung's users. I think Sony is making a big mistake not updating their older phones, but I get it. Sony wants to sell the new phones. The more expensive ones. But if the user gets disappointed with his previous Sony phone, he'll probably choose another manufacturer, that offers better phone support.
Of course, Sony releases very "attractive" to eye devices, but ther phone suppor is not that great.
Sorry, Sony, but that is the true I see.
p.s. Sorry for bad english (if it was).

Hello Sony,
Saw the post that Xperia U is not getting Official JB.
The reason you have posted in the blog is not all correct. How Can Xperia Go have JB and U not have it. Does water resistance make a phone capable of running JB.
The Support Center from America asked me to contact you guys for my question. So may I please have a reason for not updating the phone to JB. This is definitely not a software compatibility issue as Xperia J and E both can run JB then why cant U?
Got this reply today 11jan 2013
Hi,
I understand your frustration. Believe me when I say we have really tried this. One difference of Xperia U and Xperia go is the screen resolution. This comes into play when in relation to RAM in the device. Xperia J is on another platform and Xperia E has the same resolution as Xperia go.
In the tests we made we felt that the user experience wasn’t good enough with Jelly Bean in relations to the few new features in that upgrade on some of the phones.
So there is a pattern in the update strategy. I’m truly sorry if this makes you like Sony a little bit less.
