Sony in their announcement today declared that 2012 devices will recieve the Jelly Bean update, however the list of phones doesn't mention Xperia Sola and U? What sort of a contradiction is this ?
Xperia Go (same internals) and Xperia J (way inferior) have been listed. Did Sony give the list as an example or made a mistake by not mentioning?
Senior members and Sony representaives please clarify.
See the comments they say we are evealuating the potential upgrades for these smartphones and we will announce shortly
OK thankyou very much. Will take care from next time
Thank you very much Ubaid to give us the actuall news about the Jelly Bean. Pls tell me when will update my xperia sola to ics?? sony announced and roll out from 28 SEP 2012 But still waiting, why??
Rowaid,
Please note the update announced by sony on 28th Sep 2012 but it is rolling out gradually to every region and once your si number is approved you will recieve the update But be patience becuae official update is useful, hope you have to wait one week more.

Previously i read in sony's unlocking bootloader page, that the bootloader unlock would be irreversible since the the process would remove DRM and certain files. But now i've seen some guy at xda has posted up a tut and ftf file to re-lock the bootloader. I guess rooting would be the best alternative for some people who know the risks. Yay for us then
Rooting is not the same as unlocking the bootloader for the sake of an argument. Whenever whe want to install the customROM, i think rooting always imply unlock the bootloader first then install a rooted rom. What concerned me the most is that i previously thought unlocking the bootloader would be irreversible, but it seems now there's a solution to that
As far as I know unlocking th bloader is reversible but the drm keys will not come back.Is it right?
Still some hope
Further, frustration built up when Sony Mobiles blog yesterday posted that their newest Xperia T/TX/V will receive Jelly Bean mid Q1 2013, followed by Jelly Bean for the Xperia J (which has a mediocre 1 GHz ARM Cortex A5 processor only), Xperia S Acro S and then later for the Xperia P and Go. This really put the owners of the Xperia U and Sola smartphones in a fix, all of them feeling trolled by what Sony just did to them, i.e. ditch them right in their faces.
However, today we can say that the Jelly Bean update is very much coming and we even have an approximate schedule as to when the updates will hit different smartphones from Sony’s 2012 Xperia lineup. This information comes from our sources within Sony Mobile Communications (and a 3rd party in between, trusted source).
Sony Xperia P/U/Sola/Go
The remainder of the Xperia 2012 models also packed the same class and design as the Xperia S. The Xperia P and Xperia U have been a humongous success among the youth. Being light, sexy and fast, these smartphones have become a common sight these days. The Xperia Sola came in later with features like Floating Touch (use the display without even touching it) and the sturdy Xperia Go was introduced shortly after. The Xperia P received it’s ICS update about 2 months ago, while the U/Sola/Go had to wait till beginning of October to receive their updates.
The Sony Xperia P/U/Sola/Go smartphones are scheduled to receive their Jelly Bean update by early December 2012.
