ADB Interface driver installs every time I plug my phone in...?

Sony sa0103 ADB Interface driver installs every time I plug my phone in, then asks me to restart at which point it installs again and asks me to restart, etc., etc.,

PC Companion/SEUS tell me there's a firmware update available, but I never get past the 'hold "volume down" button while plugging in the USB cable' step - it just hangs on that page and goes no further

Flashtool says I don't have the correct drivers installed, despite having installed Xperia S drivers only and then every single one of them from the flashtool/drivers/ folder.

I can't do any updates/downgrades/flashtool stuff with my phone.

Wondering what I can do to sort this out. Any ideas?

You can either choose to point the install of these drivers manually using device manager on your PC. Point the search path to the drivers folder in PCC.

Or you can just disable USB debug.

Settings > Developer options > USB debugging.
