I have been trying to configure the native email app on my xperia S for last 3 months but everytime I get could not open connection to the server however I have the same account running on my other android devices which are running at android 2.2 without any problem. Recently i tried to access it with remosynch business email app( Exchange Activesynch for phones) app in my xperia s and it is working without any problem so there has to be some problem with the app
Our ICS update has the Android native client for Exchange Active sync. You can find more info about supported securty policies here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Exchange_ActiveSync_clients
If you server uses policies or security settings which is not supported by the native client you will have problems connecting.
Check the link above and also with your server admin to compare your security settings with what's supported.
If you need a more advanced EAS client I suggest that you check Google Play store. There are several different Active Sync applications available.
hello, my problem is similar still different... and not able to get a solution to it:
- my active sync was working fine on 2.3
- upgraded to ICS, and after that active sync stopped working
- tried other mail client, ExMail - and it works fine. NitoDesk also fine
- ExMail donot sync my calender and is bit unstable - so need my stock client working back - which was just perfect
- NitroDesk is not free
I have been trying to get a solution but didn't successed, even a full reset didn't help.
Please let me know what else can be done. I have checked the wikipedia and as per it the stock client should work. There is no change at the corporate activesync side (which worked well with 2.3).
Furhter adding:
- checked my account on Samsung Galaxy-III (ICS), and it worked fine (so there is no problem at corporate side)
- checked on HTC (Gingerbread - 2.3), it worked fine there also
mine is xperia neo, running on 4.0.4 build 4.1.B.0.587 and the error that i get, after filling all connection detials:
"could not open connection to server"
