I have an Xperia S i love it but my accelerometer doesn't work... help me please...
I have had this problem too...
It happened to me when I was in ICS 4.0.4 and then 4.1.2 until the last software update (I believe it was .200 for me)... I first thought it was software related because the problem go away after a normal reboot...
But one time it persisted after the reboot so I "repaired" my phone with PC Companion... and even that did not work... after many reboots the phone start behaving like it should...
I believe the problem is hardware related... with faulty accelerometer sensor... (it also kills the gyroscope) BUT since the latest .96 update I haven't had the problem yet...
It usually happen when there is a motion intensive app... such as a game that relies on your phone movement to be played... but it can also happen out of nowhere...
And finally in one occasion I was able to "fix" it without rebooting.. tapping in the back of the device (not too hard though) but it almost never work...
My conclusion is that the piece of hardware might get stuck from time to time... and somehow a phone reset (full power down) releases it...
After the latest .96 update I had a couple of happy weeks where the Accelerometer sensor did not fail...
However the problem started again a few days ago and feels like it was getting worse... Usually a reboot solve the problem,
Whats weird is that if the sensor stopped responding and I left the phone unnatended for hours (i.e. overnight) the Accelerometer is brought back to life sometime in that period of time...
And today after a couple of reboots it did not work again, I tried the Service Test and usually it opens the Sensor's screen and show no numbers, same goes for Gyroscope and Compas... BUT this time it displayed a message saying "this device does not support the function" as if it does not even know it has Accelerometer and Gyroscope... and when I tapped Compass, the phone crashed and rebooted...
I did the same proceedure again, and it crashed one more time after touching Compass in service test and not recognizing the other 2 sensors... and this time it rebooted with everything working (I usually launch Whatsapp and rotate to see if it works)...
So I still can't figure out if this is a Hardware or software problem.. what is the cause of the issue, how can you permanently fix it and is anyone else still having this issue? (i have read many threads already)
