Absolutely horrible performance, why?

I bought a Xperia U thru Fido about 2 months ago.  The phone operates so poorly, I am at wits end.  Here are some things I can think of right now:

- In general, for a dual-core phone, its slow as molasses at everything, even out of the box.

- Press the phone icon to make a call.... have to wait 2 seconds to get the pad to display.  Is instantaneous if Home and do it again.  Annoying when you want to make a quick call.

- Press Messages button it goes to last screen in Messages (say a conversation with friend).  Press Back to go to Messages list, it instead closes Messages.  You have to go thru the same process again.

- Long press on camera button to start camera will work maybe 40% of time.  Other times, get a blank screen.  Maybe 10% of time, camera opens in reasonable time, other 90% it takes 10 seconds, making its purpose to get a quick shot useless.  I have missed so many shots because of the crap performance.

- Take a picture... sometimes thumbnail appears and you can press to view.  Other times, no thumbnail, picture appears nowhere in the camera until later when you check back.  If can and do view thumbnail after taking picture, press Back to return to active picture taking and... viewfinder is rotated 90 degrees from actual (happens a lot).  Have to end camera and start again, or sometimes reboot phone.

There's a lot more, that's all I can think of for now.  I owned a W995 phone before and absolutely loved it.  Everything that it could do, it did without fail, every time, reliably and quickly.  Can't say that AT ALL for this Android phone.  Disappointed hugely.

I tried a xperia U demo phone at fido the other day.  No problem at all; which firmware are you on?

1. It is not slow at all.

2. 2 seconds to make a call?  No way if you are on gingerbread.

3. Not sure.

4. It takes some getting used to with the camera button.

5. It shouldn't be like that.

I'm not just whining.  All these issues happen all the time, every day.  It doesn't act like a fast dual core phone AT ALL.  Should I go to Fido, I suppose I could phone them up.

Update Your Phone to 6.0.B.3.184.

Hey bardia, thank you for your reply... and actually, now I realized I am whining, so apologize.  Where would I get that firmware?  Is there a process outline you can point me to?  WHen I run Sony PC Companion or Sony Update Service, it always says my phone has the lastest firmware... so how come that's the case?  Why wouldn't it tell me there is a more recent firmware?

Thank you!

Should I use Omnius?  I'm just gonna look and see if it has the firmware you mentioned on its website.

Oh I just looked, I did not find any Xperia U firmware on Omnius.  Perhaps you could help point me to the firmware and update process?

Is there any risk?  Still don't understand why Update Service and PC Companion say NO update, when there obviously is.

reason there no update as it been classed it was a bad update due to many bugs so they removed it

but if your phone is being slow you best doing a full reset

i just got xperia u yesturday brand new and it was running slow untill i rebooted it was fine

but if yours is still running slow and you had less then 1year and you got warranty from the place you brought it from take it back

To Update your phone,Please use Sony Update Service (SUS).it's better than other updating tools.
