Again, this may be a newb question because I didn't use this tablet on any older software but I notice that when viewing close, the whole screen shows visible scan lines like an interlaced display. This would be a technique that Sony could have used to get rid of the previous flicker in 4.4.2 and such as updating an interlaced display is faster at the expense of half-resolution updates.
At this point my old Acer A700 display looks better up close as it shows a contiguous image especially in areas of the same color.
Was this interlacing present on previous OS versions?
I think you are seeing depending on light the touch sensitive dots and lines and would have always been there
I really don't think so. This interlacing can be seen in a dark room with no background lighting. Yes I can see the touch surface at the right angle with backlighting but this has nothing to do with that.
What was supposed to be a great tablet display is turning into anything but.
