4.2.2 downgrade..

Just got rid of the.total *beep*... Thats the 4.3 "upgrade " from my Z1 and lo and behold the.bluetooth problem that I had with my car audio (couldn't use the hands free facility) has disappeared! So I have proved that the 4.3 "upgrade" was complete and utter rubbish.. The.bluetooth stack in 4.3 was obviously a load of rubbish and was missing lots of functionality that was there in the 4.2.2 release...

Hi,

I used flashtool to revert back to the 4.2.2 software.. Here is a link for the ftf files...

XDA - Z1

DO A BACKUP FIRST!!!! I simply copied all of my music/photos etc and backed-up my texts etc with SMS backup. Flashed the new ftf and when complete, also did a factory reset.  Then copied all of my music etc back to my phone.  Worked fine!

To get rid of the infomation message regarding the new .290 software, I went to the Update app in settings and cleared the data and cache.  I think it may return after a restart.. not sure but I will just do the same.. ie clear data/cache.

Hope that helps!

Regards,

Alan

Cheers Alan.

Alex, Vodafone state anything than their push of firmware and you're on your own. It's bad enough as it is, without bricking the phone and then having no warranty to fix it...

Yes,I know they have rules, and if you think of rooting, you also have to consider that you could brick your phone is something goes wrong.

There is nothing we can do to change the 4.3 update... All we can hope for is for Sony to release a normal update, or just a fix to 4.3. I would be happy if they released a working 4.4 straight after 4.3.

It is really apparent that not much testing is done by Sony, but then again this is android and it's normal to have software issues. What is not normal is to be so slow with hotfixes. Slightly_smiling_Face

Hire more engineers, developers and some new testers, maybe?

Android is a lot more cooler than any other OS,but it has its glitches for being so "alive".Anyway, they should release more bugfixes.

I agree... There obviously was very, very little testing done on the .290 release by Sony - if any at all.  Its not just me that has had problems with this update, indeed, some people have had bluetooth issues with Sony accessories, such as headphones etc....

Sony needs to fix these bluetotth issues - and quick!  I see that two later software updates to 4.3 have passed certification but have yet to be released.  Hopefully they will have bug fixes in them to correct the bluetooth and all of the other isses that the .290 release had.

AND - hopefully, these issues will also be fixed in the 4.4 release!

Can anyone help I have the latest firmware on newly purchase phone 5 days, I am experiencing not connecting to any bluetooth device (car and headphones). Upgraded to the latest fix. See below. Husband also purchased the same phone he also has the latest fix but his car has lots of noise and crackling sounds where using the phone or drops out after few mins Overall very disapointed with this product,  should be working out of the box, I dont want to go back to iphones

Also installed an App to fix this problem.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.devmil.xperiabluetoothmediafix&hl=nl

But that wasn't a solution either.

To get the phone working with the car audio system you will have to go back to 4.2.2 using Flashtool and a .257 ftf file...
