3G connection unstable

We have a Sony xperia P with Android 2.3 on it. We have problems with 3G (UMTS).

The phone settings is on: UMTS/GSM.

On only GSM the phone works great. But when i set the settings on UMTS or UMTS/GSM the connection is unstable.

With an other phone we can not call this xperiaP, but after turn the xperia off, Sim card out / In, turn phone on. The phone works good again.

But after a while the connection disapear again.

What is the reason or what is the solution?

Why don't you updgrade your phone to ICS or to JB?The problem could be related to your SIM card.

Welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

With the information supplied, I suggest you test another SIM card as this definitely sounds SIM related.

This could also be related to the Model of handset and the Network carrier you are using, you may want to find out if the handset caters to the appropriate frequencies your network use for 3G services. I suggest looking at the looking through the whitepapers and checking the network section.
