3.5 mm jack plug, not working with an Xperia E?

A 3.5 mm jack plug works with an Xperia Z and not with an Xperia E?  In order to get my phone working with the stereo of my car, do I have to configure my phone?  Somebody a suggestion?! Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem.  I thought it was the cable I was using to connect the phone to the car and bought 2 different brands, none of which worked.

Car audio system detects phone as AUX but still music continues to be heard over the phone´s speaker.

I have the same issue

In the old days plugging in a jack plug into a product physically lifted a contact which broke the curcuit to the speaker of whatever device you had plugged into .

In this phone it appears to be a software solution.

I bought a 3.5mm jack to 2x 3.5mm socket splitter.

I can plug that into the phone and the phone keeps playing on the speaker

I can plug a line in lead into one of the two sockets and the phone keeps playing on the speaker

As soon as i plug a pair of headphones into the other socket, the phone senses them and swaps it's audio output to the external devices.

So its not a faulty lead or connector you're using.

I'd consider this a design flaw and people should be aware that its not as easy as it should be to plug this phone into an external audio device (eg car, recorder, mixing desk etc)

Tim,

Thx for the guidance.

It's definitely a flaw.

I would expect my cell phone to work just like an iPhone; plug it into my car's stereo and hear music on my car's speakers.

Can somebody from Sony comment, pls?

EVERYONE, I HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION!

I have a similar issue;

Works with my headphones

Works with my hifi in my room

Works with my FM transmitter

Doesn't work with my Boombox V2

Doesn't work with my parents old fashioned amplifier

So, I have a headphone splitter (5 headphone ports to plug multiple things into) and I thought I would try and "trick" my Xperia E into thinking it was plugged into head/earphones. I found my collection of earphones that are broken (one side not working or whatever) and plugged them into my headphone splitter. I plugged the cable from the hifi(the one which it doesn't normally work with) into the splitter as well and then found an AUX cable (3.5mm jack) and plugged my phone into the splitter by way of the AUX cable. It works! It's far from tidy and the crappy little earphones are probably going to eventually break from having to be at a much louder volume (the more you plug into the splitter, the higher you need to crank the volume) which is why I used crappy ones but I've managed to hide the cluster of cables and such down the side to make it look neater.

It's not perfect but if you're desperate it's probably worth a try. Hope this helps.

Note: I don't know if this is bad for either the phone or the hifi or whatever because I only did this 10 minutes ago and I really have no clue about this sort of stuff Dizzy_Face

Thx, Zombienoms!

Yours is the same solution caver_tim had provided earlier, except that u are using a 5-way splitter instead of a 2-way one, which is not advisable as u have correctly inferred.

It's true that u need to burst volume considerably even with a 2-way splitter, so after u use the AUX and before switching to the radio or CD or otherwise, reduce volume for your convenience and of others.

As mentioned earlier, the real solution for this issue must come from Sony, other than saying that it is "due to hardware limitations", as commented by Sony Xperia support's Johan at:

FIX

Hello,

I had the same problem, but i downloaded toggleheadset 2.

This app forces your phone to play it over the headset instead of the speakers. it doest matter if it actually is a headset or a car stereo. You have to install the app and when downloaded use it as a widget on your homescreen.

Good luck
