Hi,
Both of my Kids got Xperia XA's this year and unfortunately both have had issues as follows:
Phone 1 - Within 1 week the touchscreen started to behave oddly with mysterious touches/double touches etc making the phone unusable - not sure if this is software or hardware related but EE replaced the handset as it happened within a week of ownership - not a good start
Phone 2 - The replacement phone mostly worked ok for a couple of months but then it started to either not charge overnight or to charge very slowly and eventually stopped chargin at all. EE sent the phone off for repair and on receipt it was confirmed that the phone was in externally very good condition, it had been kept in a well padded case etc since purchase. Following their investigation I was advised that the phone chasis was bent and this was the reason for the charging not working. The Sony repair centre have declined to cover the cost of the repair saying that my son has caused the chasis to bend. A very disappointing response, the phone has not been misused at all or used any differently to any other phone we have owned. As far as I am concerned this apears to be a serious issue with the phone design/build and a google search seems to indicate that it's not an unknown issue with the XA or other Sony phone models. Despite being a long term EE customer and having 4 contracts with them they are not currently willing to help me out. I will therefore be looking to follow this up with Sony as this is clearly a handset fault if it bends so easily in normal "expected" use.
Handset 3 - Unfortunately my Daughter knocked her XA off the Sofa and onto a laminate floor and despite being in a tough case and it landing on the edge of the case the LCD display completely shattered. In my view this shattered very easily, I've certainly dropped other phones from greater height and onto harder surfaces without issue.
Overall, even if I factor in that the XA is a budger phone my impression is that this is a very poor quality piece of hardware which I absolutely regret getting for my Kids.
The worst thing is I had a sony phone myself a few years ago and at the time I swore I would never get another Sony phone again as it was so poor.
