Dear Forum
Problem:
I got this new Xperia XA Dual SIM on the 5th of november (less than 3 weeks already), it was great and working fine until yesterday
after I charged the phone.. the UI itself became slow, just like everything else, it stutters and its so annoying, also the phone gets overheated not from the battery, not the camera. but top left side (where the SD card and the SIM card are).
Attempts to fix the problem:
1. Turned off the phone and back on: It doesn't lag for the first 10-20 minutes, then it becomes sluggish again
2. Removed SD card: problem still presists
3. Removed Cache: problem still presists
4. Did the "volume up power button" trick while turning it on: Problem still presists
5. Software repair using PC companion: problem still presists
Observations
well that's weird. when its connected it via USB it works fine, I tried this many times. no lag when USB attached (Wall charger or PC) and as soon as the cable is removed .. sluggish again
Notes:
- I don't complain about the battery, yes definitely overheating causes it to drain quicker but its not that noticable
- My SIM card was originally a micro one that got trimmed into nano
- I have been very careful with the phone, It never fell or had any hits
Thanks for your help in Advance
I hope you can return my trust in Sony because I had an Xperia Z1C before and the service center told me "its unrepairable" and despite this I bought Sony again because I like the brand, I hope it wasn't a mistake.
Hi @Tooky,
I'm sorry to hear about your phone.
Is it only when playing sound or video and the output is a Bluetooth device that you experience this behaviour with sound or video, or does it occur when playing music or watching videos using the speaker in the phone or a wired headset/headphones?
Which Bluetooth devices do you have paired with your phone, and are you connected to a Wi-Fi network at the same time? Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz) uses the same frequency, so try turning Wi-Fi off or connect it to a 5 GHz network if you have that possibility.
Let me know how it went!
Hello,
I'm experiencing the same problem with my Xperia XA. I bought it about 3 months ago and suddenly it started to get laggy. It's exactly it, after restart the phone it works fine, 10-20 minutes later it starts to get laggy and it gets slower as the time passes by. When connected to the USB (pc or wall), it works fine, once you remove it gets laggy again.
It's really strange, I tried everything: restore to factory, software repair with xperia companion, remove the SIM and SD.
Nothing works.
Hi @gilkozeng, welcome to our forums!
I'm sorry to hear that you experience the same kind of behaviour with your phone.
Since it works fine when it's plugged into a charger, make sure that the STAMINA mode isn't activated in your phone, this have an impact on the performance in your phone and is turned off when you start to charge your phone.
Go to Settings > Battery > STAMINA > Never on.
Do you experience any difference?
When you performed the software repair, did you restore a backup to the phone or not? If you restored a backup some data in the backup may be the cause of this. If you like you can perform a new software repair, do note restore any backup or install any application > use the phone as normal and see if you experience that the phone is slow.
If there is no change with the above, I would recommend getting in touch with your Local support team so they can assist you having the phone sent in to an authorized service centre.
Keep me posted!
Hi @erna56, sorry to hear about that.
If you have tried all the previous troubleshooting in this thread and there has been no change, I would recommend getting in touch with your Local support team so they can arrange a repair for you, so the phone can be examined at an authorized service centre by a trained technician.
Let me know how it goes!
Dear forum
Sadly today local sony service center called me that my phone is ready when they reinstalled software. but you know I already received it before after "2 weeks of installing software" at sony and of course i returned it to them again.. I am so lucky I survived this call without getting a stroke lol
Its almost 4 months and I got nothing at all. thankfully I bought a completely different brand phone and I just follow up with the local sony place knowing that they will never help anyway
Sadly I liked sony but I am not buying sony phones again. I am not recommending it to any friend or family member; and dear members who have the same problem my phone has. you should start filing a complaint to get a new device or to get your money back because it won't be repaired.
Sony should really take better care of its customers because you can't depend that you have a shiny brand name without providing real service forever
Hello Guys,
had the same problem , it seems to be solved by removing the sd card permanently and just using the phone memory with sd card not inserted at any time. It doesnt lag / stutter anymore with the card removed. You guys can give it a try and let me know.
Thanks
Arpan
Hi @ArpanY,
Thanks a lot for this great information!
Have you had the chance to test another SD card in your phone and see if you experience the same behaviour? Or if you have tried to format the SD card that you removed from your phone and after the format is done, insert it in the phone again and use it as before.
Let me know how it goes!
Hi @Chev, welcome to our forum!
I'm sorry for the late reply.
If you want to transfer data to your SD card you can do so in Settings > Storage and memory > Transfer data > Mark the file types you want to transfer to the memory card and tap on "Transfer".
Do note that all data can't be transferred to an SD card, media should be no problems with but when it comes to application it's the developer(s) of the application(s) that has to add support for this.
If you want to know what is taking up the internal storage in your phone you can do so in Settings > Storage and memory > 3 dots > Advanced settings > Storage. You will now see Apps, Music, Photos and so forth and next to them you will see how much space they are using.
If you want to delete the cached data in your phone you can tap on "Cached data" in this menu and then "OK".
Let me know if that helps!
