XA1 If the glass breaks, does the touchscreen still work?

Hello! I was thinking about buyin Sony Xperia XA1, but I want to know that if the glass breaks, am I still able to use it normally? Like does the touch screen still work, or do I need to repair my phone right away?

While the touch functionality should still work on the handset if the glass is broken, we do not recommend you use a device with a broken screen for safety reasons.

If you do break the screen of your phone, please contact your Local support team to arrange a repair.

It depends on the extent of the damage. If only the top glass is cracked, the phone will work normally.  But if the digitizer layer underneath is damaged, the phone will not track touches and may exhibit ghost touching.  I know because it happened to me on my Xperia Z3 compact (I dropped it). Digitizer repair was expensive.  The bottom layer is the actual display and if that gets damaged, you're done.
