Sony Xperia XA battery drain

I'm getting roughly 2 hours of screen on time with my Xperia XA. It has already been repaired once, whereby the motherboard was replaced. Recently got the update to Android 7.0 Nougat, and I'm wondering if this is the culpurit. Is there a new update for the XA which will improve battery life?

recent system upgrades will drain your battery as there is a lot of background tasks opened . give your device a few days to settle down. observe your device while in safe mode to see if the battery drain is still present

The battery drain was still present months after installing the update. I keep location services turned on constantly, I'm assuming  that is what is draining the battery?
