Sony Sends Email About Software Update

Received email from Sony informing me that there is an update for my phone the XA2 (H3113) the update is 50.1.A.10.40 however when I type in my IMEI it tells me that the version 50.1.A.5.59 is uptodate, so why am I not receiving the update as per Sony's email?

The email says that it will come through in a few days but you can use your PC to get it now by downloading their software.

Yes I know that, but I have already tried it with their software called PC Companion and the update is not coming through using that either!

I also received this email but according to the xperia companion my phone already have the latest update, however my phone automatically downloaded the OTA update v. 50.1.A.10.40 last night.  The install went thru 3 stages and restarted my phone. My phone did not restart and it is completely dead. The phone will not power back on and there is no power light when I connect it to the charger.  I am not sure if the software update bricked my phone or if my hardwaere failed.  The phone is only 1.5 months old.  I have contacted xperia support and was promised info on how to troubleshoot the problem.  As of this posting I have not received anything from support.  If there are problems with the software update, Sony need to fix it.

Update - Was able to get the phone restarted and the update was successful, but I think the
OTA package need to be pulled and rechecked.  I should not have cause the shutdown to my phone.

I had a system message on screen when I pressed the power button this morning and it said to restart the phone due to a software update, so I presume the update installed during the night and because I was sleeping it had to be restarted, so I tapped on restart and when it eventually came back on it had the update successfully installed, so it probably just needed me to restart to complete the process, so perhaps mine went through 3 stages too but can't say for sure as I was sleeping, I'm positive that's how it works though going by previous updates on phones in the past.

@jamd57

When you mentioned that it went through 3 stages did it automatically restart 3 times by itself with no intervention from yourself?
