scrolling problem

My Xperia XA1 was fine until I installed two updates on 7 & 8 August 2017 (the first I'd been postponing for about a month, the second came up about 24 hours later). 

After the first and then more so after the second I've been having serious problems scrolling up and down in apps such as Gmail, Chrome or Yahoo Mail. Unless you scroll very slowly, it reacts as if I'd hit 'Back' or closes the app completely. 

Quite clearly, this makes for a very painful experience. Any help to resolve it would be great

Start troubleshooting by restarting your phone into safe mode, this will disable all installed 3rd party apps. If the problem is resolved then one of your installed apps is causing this issue and you have to figure out which one. Start by uninstalling those apps you installed recently.

Or, you can directly proceed to perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory. Don't forget to backup using Xperia Companion, but preferably without adding apps or settings to the backup.
