Hi guys,
The main question I want to ask is this:
¿Should the phone come with a perfect assembly from factory (new phone), or small misalignments in assembly could be present in a completely new phone?
The question arise because I just bought what should be a completely new Xperia XA2 phone. However, after a detailed examination of the body of the cell, I discovered that the back cover of the phone is not perfectly assembled, the edge on the side of the sim card tray is not leveled; the cover protrudes slightly above the main body of the phone near the bottom corner, it does a similar thing, to a lesser extent, at the upper corner. In the middle part of the phone, the cover has the same level as the main body; all the other edges of the cover are pretty much well aligned and leveled with main body.
Additionally, I saw small diagonal (oblique) scratches, probably 1 or 2 mm long, on the back cover near the same edge that is not leveled with the main body, the one on the side of the sim card tray. That is, the edge of the back cover that is on the side of sim tray has small scratches and is not perfectly leveled with the main body. The small scratches are hard to see with the bare eye, I only noticed them using the back lamp of another phone.
All of that makes me think that the phone might have been opened (disassembled) before I bought it. After I saw how to disassemble one of these phones, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6V2sfh84VVU, I am suspicious that those small diagonal scratches might be the result of using a sharp piece of hard plastic used to open the back cover as in the video. The same with the not leveled cover.
It all seems suspicious, but, is there a chance that the not leveled cover and the small scratches could come from manufacturing/assembly process? The small scratches are not equally spaced, but the size of them is quite consistent and they very subtle, as I said before, I could not see them with my bare eye.
There is also an additional detail, in the plastic bag in which the phone comes, there are water/dust marks on both sides of the bag (back and front). These marks belong to the position of the rear main camera circle, so in any case, the mark should be only on one side of the bag. I think this means the phone has been manipulated before, but that is not my biggest worry, the one I am most concerned about is that the phone might have disassembled before.
I bought the phone through an electronic commerce company (Linio), which is the competition of Amazon in Mexico. The seller is a local business that offers its products (cellphones) through the marketplace part of the company, meaning that the company itself does not sell the phone but it is an intermediary between the consumer and the local business. The package of the phone had a good appearance, only a small dent in one of the lower corners, it had security 3D seals; although I guess you could buy those seals and put them on the box.
So there it is, sorry for the long explanation. I post some pictures I took of the “new” phone in the area where I see a suspicious assembly. The small scratches are very difficult to capture with a camera so I made an ugly draw of how they look.
Hopefully, someone will know if there are small assembly errors during the manufacturing of these phones. Or, someone might check its own phone and let me know if it is perfectly aligned and leveled.
I did not turn on the phone, as I thought it might better that way if I return it, but the IMEI and serial numbers on the package and on the labels of the phone match.
If someone has a comment that could help to clarify my doubts, I would be really grateful if you could do it quickly. Because I might take the decision of returning the phone today to be able to grab some discount on another phone, as there are special discounts this week in Mexico.
I think u should change the device friend, really look weird, u should go to the store and see other phone if have the same issues
Just so you know, my backcover exactly at the bottom right, it pops up slightly just like yours. I press it in, but eventually it goes up. I put a case and just forgot about it.
