Hi,
I have a new Xperia Xa. I have just set it up but all of the sudden it would go black screen. If I press the power button you would see that the back light would light up a bit but the screen is still black then if I wait a lil bit the normal screen where the time and date is would appear I could use it again then would then black out and I would have a hard time again.
kindly help me. does it just need an update or there is something wrong with the phone.

I'm doubting a hardware defect. But to rule out any possibility of software bugs, I'd suggest that you perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory. Don't forget to backup using Xperia Companion, but preferably without adding apps or settings to the backup.
If the issue persists after the software repair, then you should contact your Local support and ask for an appointment to get your phone inspected by a professional.

So to explain further, when I place my phone in sleep mode that is one of the time that it goes into that black screen mode but strangely I can hear it take screenshots whenever I press the powerbutton and tap on the screen.
so that means it working. It was alaso on a black screen mode when I attempted to do the safe mode and it went to safe mode even if I wasn't able to see the options.
Its currently on safe mode so far it hasn't turned into that black screen state as of yet but what I noticed when I take it out from sleep mode the screen would like show pixcelized colors like a bad tv signal for a few seconds before it goes to the right screen display.
And now after 10 min on safe mode it is a black screen again... so to answer your question, yes it does that too in safe mode.
