Hall function don't work

I got a flip-cover on my g3121 and the screen is not turning on/off when the cover is flipped ☺️

Tested the different sensors with on phone diagnostic tool and everything is working ☺️

Is this normal or is it a bug? ☺️

Hi @MrVegeberg

Welcome to the community!

It is very likely that the case you have needs to be paired to the phone using NFC in order for it to operate correctly and wake up / put the screen to sleep when you open or close the cover.

Normally, inside the cover there will be an NFC symbol (like a strange looking N in a square). Turn on NFC on your handset, settings > more > NFC > tap the slider, once you have done this tap the back of the phone (you see the same symbol that is on the case on the back of your handset as well) to the case. You should hear a sound when this is done correctly indicating it has paired.

Put the phone back in the case and it should now turn the screen on and off when you open or close the cover.

Let me know how it goes Slightly_smiling_Face

Thanks for replying.

My case doesn't have the NFC symbol nor did the NFC trick ☺️

Could it be my cover isn't supporting hall? ☺️

Hi @MrVegeberg

Thanks for that, where did you purchase the case from? Do you know if it has a particular model number, if so what is the model number.

Also, do you have a screen protector on the handset as well by any chance?

The case is bought from a company named Puro, I can't find this cover on their website for some odd reason. If was the only cover I could for xa1. Tried 5 places and the place I bought it had covers or cases.

I got the stock protector from Sony on my display still ☺️

@MrVegeberg thanks for confirming that Slightly_smiling_Face

Just to clarify, when you say the stock protector, is that the protective film that was already on the screen of the phone when you purchased it?

that protective film isn't mean to be kept, just to protect the phone from scratching while it's still in the box. you'd be better off getting a cheap glass screen protector for your phone.

Hi @MrVegeberg

Thanks for clarifying that.

As @najodleglejszy said, that protective film isn't supposed to be left on the phone and should be replaced with a screen protector if you are wanting to use one.

Can you remove that and then see if the screen will light up/sleep when you open and close the cover?

Had to make a new account because apparently I didn't have one anymore.

I will not take off the protection from screen. It have never ever made a single one of my phones not working correctly.

If the film was the problem the sensor test wouldn't have worked and it does work.

The hall function is working but only when I'm talking through headset.
