Find My Device Erase data feature?

Hi! I lost my phone earlier, and Im trying to erase everything on the phone. There's no SD card but the phone is locked, Data was left on. I tried to do Erase device and I got a confirmation message that the phone was factory reset. I just want to confirm if this action erases everything including Photos and Videos? My friend tried Erase Data feature on her own phone (Vivo phone), It was factory reset but the gallery was not deleted. Thanks much

Ok so from Google's own support page regarding this:

• Erase
  Permanently deletes all data on your device (but might not delete SD cards). After you erase, Find My Device won't work on the device.
  Important: If you find your device after erasing, you'll likely need your Google Account password to use it again. Learn about device protection.

So your friends gallery may have been showing sd card contents if indeed it didn't erase that. I guess that the process works differently on some devices than others so the sd wipe may be out of Google's control.
