Just bought this based on reviews of camera and supposedly bright screen and vibrant colours. Got it from Amazon and it is G3221 rev 3. Very poor dull display, reds are practically orange and display appears washed out. Went in to a phone shop and they had the rev 2 on display. Much brighter screen and vibrant colours. They checked my phone settings and couldn't see anything wrong but agreed the screen was bad. They think it's faulty. Thing is I don't want to return and replace if it is going to be the same. Is this likely a fault or have Sony changed the screen from rev 2 to rev 3?
I did and the one in the store is much better. It actually had a bright screen with vibrant colours. But their version they stock is revision 2 whilst the one I bought from Amazon is revision 3. I am hoping that Sony can confirm whether the screen changed between revision 2 and revision 3?
I bought a revision 2 Xperia XA1 Ultra four days ago. I have noticed that with the adaptive brightness feature turned on, the display definitely looks duller than I would have expected for the surrounding light intensity. When I turned adaptive brightness off and adjusted the brightness manually, I was able to make the display much brighter and more vibrant.
When you compared your revision 3 phone to the revision 2 phone in the store, did you check the store phone to see if adaptive brightness was turned off? If it was, I suggest you turn it on and then compare. It's possible the store staff intentionally turned the brightness up to make the phone look better.
It looks to me that Sony needs to adjust this feature and moderately increase the brightness when adaptive brightness is turned on. It's too dull in my opinion.
Just discovered, you can adjust the brightness level that adaptive brightness uses. When it is enabled, try using the pull down slider, that is, pull down from the top of the screen. It allows for a very nice fine adjustment. Hopefully, this solves your problem.
